who we are
Jacquelyn Healy is the creator and founder of Children's Poetry Theater. As a child, she loved putting on plays. Even then, it was language that drew her to theater. When she grew up she earned a BFA in art history and curatorial studies from Brigham Young University and then an MFA from Middlebury College's Bread Loaf School of English, where she participated in theatrical productions and emphasized in poetry and writing for children. In the fall of 2022, she moved from Massachusetts to Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania with her husband and three children, where they plan to put down roots. Jacquelyn, or "Miss Jacque," founded the theater in January, 2024, with the aim to create a painterly, playful and long-lasting place where children can fall in love with what language can do, especially when illuminated by art.
Shannon Liechty is a co-teacher at the theater. She loves reading and (talking about) writing. Occaisionally, she enjoys actually doing some writing. Shannon worked for nine years in a university writing center, both as a tutor and administrator (this is a great place to work if you like to talk about writing). Currently, she teaches in the English department at St. Jospeh's University. Shannon lives in Narberth with her husband and two kids. When she has any spare time, she goes on bike rides or (more often) stays up way too late cozied up with a good book.

Emily Stewart is a lifelong artist and nature lover. She coordinates Narberth Public Art, a local arts organization dedicated to bringing bright, engaging artwork to vacant spaces and deepening community relationships through hands-on collaborations. She especially enjoys making art from salvaged objects and natural materials. In the winter, you may see her building intricate snow sculptures in her front yard. In warmer months she can be found creating giant cardboard flowers, insects and other curiosities. She cannot wait to share her design skills and techniques with the summer campers!
