About the event
The poet Rumi lived hundreds of years ago, yet his words are still a source of light for so many. Whether you're a long time lover of his work or a curious newcomer, come cozy up and sip hot cider with us as we immerse ourselves in his world for an evening. We'll gather on the very night people everywhere commemorate the day he died with sacred, whirling dances set to the joyful noises of tambourines and reed flutes--a night called "Seb-i Arus" or "The Wedding Night" festival. Doctor of Philosophy and co-curator of "Wisom of Sufism," Yasemin Akis, will be our guide as we experience the art and dancing and clothing and music that Rumi beautifully wove into the stuff of symbolism--our aim being to understand his work more clearly and become expanded by it.
This is a special night for adults and young adults accompanied by an adult.
